According to the National Association of REALTORS®(NAR), REALTORS and Sustainability Report 2017, about 60 percent of respondents said consumers are interested in sustainability issues when they are house hunting, with 80 percent highlighting efficient lighting as important to buyers, and 42 percent saying solar panels increase a property’s perceived value.
There is a lot of hype about what the future of the connected home will look like, but what technologies do buyers actually want? Dave Pedigo, vice president of emerging technologies at CEDIA, says that in multiple studies, smart thermostats are always number one, followed by security systems and then various areas such as lighting control.
Designed outdoor spaces
Decks and patios have been popular for a long time, but as our lives become more informal, we are doing more actual living outdoors. Once the purview of luxury homes, outdoor kitchens and even fully furnished outdoor living rooms are trickling into the mainstream, and they have the added benefit of making the house seem larger. In a 2017 AIA Home Design Trends Survey, 66 percent of the architects who responded said outdoor living spaces are important to their clients, and 62 percent said that blended indoor-outdoor living spaces are popular.

"There certainly aren't enough words to describe just how amazing Brandon was to work with. My husband and I relocated from Utah and found Brandon through a referral (and honestly, a prayer). He was immediately accommodating and helpful; he cleared his schedule for two whole days to help us look at the homes on our list. He never pushed a home on us and we never felt like he was "just trying to get the sale." He was always eager to help us find the home that WE wanted.
After we put an offer on our home, he worked tirelessly to ensure that we had all the information we needed and that we understood the laws and processes involved. We always felt comfortable calling Brandon for help or with questions and concerns and he never, not once, made us feel rushed or unimportant. He was always kind and patient!
Brandon became more than a realtor; he's become a dear friend! Not only would we refer him to ANYONE looking to buy a home, but we will be utilizing his services in the future without a doubt!
Thank you, Brandon!"
